So:ren Berner @ BOTTEGA, Oktober-November 2008
Since the late 1990s So:ren Berner has adressed topics such as prejudice, immigration, exclusion, globalization, social and psychic systems, public space and cultural diversity. The investigative character that goes hand in hand with the process instead of finished conclusions plays a central role in his works that evolves in performances, drawings, installations and prints.
So:ren’s drawings, prints and installations is often created in connection with the process to his performances which, as a contrast to an action filled, time limited show, offers another entrance to understand and identify with. By using inspiration from the performances that might have passed into oblivion, So:ren creates his own unique flourishing idiom, marrying an intuitive delight in the visual with a critical edge.
The exhibited prints, drawings and objects from So:ren has evolved parallel with the latest performance project “KARGOLOGY”* which investigates information patterns in public space as well as the ways individuals experience the constant flow of information in the city.
*”KARGOLOGY” is performed by the artist group KARGO which besides So:ren Berner consists of Bella Angora and Christian Falsnaes. KARGOLOGY has been performed in New York, Vienna, Istanbul, and Copenhagen

Our beloved friend So:ren Berner is the next artist to show us what he’s got at Bottega.
Come and check out his works this sunday from 14.00 - and have some wonderful food while you are at it :-)
As some of you might now, I am right now travelling around New England in the north-eastern corner of US with Troels Mads (thereisnotroubleindenmark.dk) shooting a pocket documentary about a very beautiful music scene around here…
The documentary will tell the stories of a real music scene surviving the western pop culture’s awkward ability of changing our view on how we should use music in our everyday life.
We are hunting down basement studios, monday night jams, house shows and tiny venues where freedom of absolutely independent jamming has created tons of new genres, ideas and amazing live-recordings starting to spread itself all of the world.
When we get back home we will have done interviews and recorded live shows with more than 60 people, groups or music collectives about their ideas, dreams and life-stories.
Many of the musicians coming from the 80′ies punk scene of Boston moved to the country side due to increasing house prices and a lack of acceptance from the society, they spread themselves all over New England throughout the beautiful hills of Vermont, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine and ended up creating a music scene cross the borders.
We are passing by the little town Brattleboro, home of some really talented free folk musicians like Feathers and MV & EE, seeing the giant jamming collectives Jow-Jow the Death Knell Rung and Sunburned Hand of the Man in East- and Northampton, and visiting different musicians in their homes getting theirs stories about the music in their lifes and around them.
The last couple of days we have been on a crazy road-trip with Christopher Carmody out of Easthampton MA, seeing and playing with the Jow-jows in the old record shop Timemachine, visiting the couple Shannon & Beverly in their beautiful yurt, and visiting Jim and Sita from the Jow-jow as well.
Since we managed to convince ourselves that going to travel around the US without a driver license and without a car was a brilliant idea, we have been dependent of many incredibly friendly car owners that have been helping us out getting from place to place, thank you so much!
Our latest traveling partner is Mr. Mocha Joe a brilliant chef of one of the best restaurant of Brattleboro, last night he helped us out going to the suburbs of Albany where Jack and Llana were hosting one of their incredibly loud 5 years in a row-monday jams in their basement.
Next mr. Joe will take us all the way through the hills of New Hampshire to find amazing Mr. Asa Irons living far away in the woods, to Portland Maine to visit Big Blood and friends, and then finally we’ll be heading back to Boston to visit some record shops and fly back home to Denmark.
Megapost!!! 40 pieces of Graphic Design, in honor of our new blog, the ‘what have I (me, Zander, hello everybody) been up to lately’ -post, a selection starting from late 07 and ending up at ‘now’. Ta ta. Oh and remember to click to see them larger, in this case uniformly 600px high. Happy scrolling!
2k1&Ms.S. – Flyers for two parties we had at Culture Box. They are really old, (well… August 07) but I just felt like sharing them again. Was the first time in a long time I started working with photography again.
T-shirt for Soundvenue – Late 07
Restaurant menu proposal – Late 07 made in Bucharest, Romania. For It’s Everyday.
BIrthday – I should photograph this poster also, when I find a camera I will. For our 5 year Birthday with Kill Your Telly parties, we had our friends Rhadoo & Raresh visiting from our second home in Bucharest, Romania. We also covered Culture Box in blue, yellow and red insulation tape. Hai Romania! Made in March 2008.
Flyers for our own Klub Dada (R.I.P.) at Vega Natklub – Last 6 flyers ranging November 2007-June 2008 (out of approx. 20 in all) for our now defunct club night at Vega Natklub. + a poster for Dada and it’s ’sister’ club night ‘Cereals’ run by Fredski - Cereals pattern by The Lovely Lector Kat G.
Doxwise Dagbog photo patterns – From early 2008, these were used as the backdrop for the Copenhagen Bombay produced, Myspace distributed online video series Doxwise Dagbog. All photos also by me, taken around 1999 to 2001.
Vesterbro – Early 2008. Double movie poster proposal. They didn’t go for the whole ‘can’t see both the main characters faces at once on either poster’ …genius of it. Neither were they too happy with not being able to read, either the title, or the tag line – on each of the posters respectively. Or the type choice for that matter. Try elsewhere.
Various Vega Natklub flyers – Summer 2008
Filur feat. Prins Nitram – 20 Lashes – Single cover, early summer 2008. Still ongoing project with more covers and merchandise coming.
CJ+WQ parties at KB18 – Started April and now an on going flyer gig for our best ravebuddies Carsten & Waqar.
‘Vega art poster’ – Accused of plagiarism by some poor person who felt he/she (but you kinda have to be a boy to have such small balls) had to be anonymous (see thread here, sorry mostly in Danish, it’s hilarious but also contains a spoiler!). It’s the art poster for Vega Natklub in July 2008, indeed an homage to Poul Gernes, but also a further twist on his (and Auerbach’s) versions, mine spells out a hidden message (theirs spell out the alphabet) - a reference to Vega’s late August cruise to Norway. Here’s the key.
Strøm 08, almost, but not quite, final mention – Here a little round up on most the Strøm material, flyers, magazine and newspaper ads, posters, and program – when I find a camera somewhere in our new studio I will photograph some of the material in real life. Thanks must go to the client for trusting me enough to let me make most the copy, well, let’s say ‘challenged’ – legibility wise.
Burn 08 – Bollywood vs. The Warehouse themed dual room party at Carlsberg. Arranged and promoted by the Billy Boyz. Juli 2008.
Soundvenue/Lee Rocks, Fashionweek – Party invite for guest at the Soundvenue/Lee hosted Copenhagen Fashion Week (for whom we also did a lot of motiondesign this year) party at Dat Schaub featuring Diplo as the main attraction. Brief went must be A5, B/W and use Helvetica Neue 95 Black. (My first time in about 6 years with the swiss mistress, I think).
Locothursdays/Filur poster – Using our own modified version of Futura. Keeping it simple. August 2008.

The joint is run by our beloved friends Boris, Jeppe, Mau, Eva and Jesper with whom we are planning more collaboration in the time to come. BOTTEGA = AMAZING FOOD, AMAZING VIBE, GO VISIT NOW!
